Present: Hot Topics in AAC: Merging Clinical Perspectives to Ensure Independent Communicators presented by Catherine Horton, MS, CCC-SLP, BCBA.

An overwhelming number of communication options exist for our learners with complex communication needs. Practitioners are not only faced with decisions related to the type of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) system, but are also tasked with choices related to the most effective teaching strategy. This talk will review four of the major hot topics including: Aided Language Stimulation/Modeling, core vocabulary, presumed competence and prompting strategies. Differences in jargon and teaching approaches will be explored with compromises and practical implmentation strategies proposed. Participants will leave with a framework for analyzing communicative approaches while maintaining positive team collaboration!

If you are interested in attending the special presentation, tickets can be purchased ahead of time online. Limited quantities will be available at the door.
